Top 12 Most Frequently Asked Questions About Boudoir Photography

The thought of a boudoir session can be scary. When talking to women about their session, I get asked all kinds of questions, so I’ve compiled a list of the twelve most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on preparing for a boudoir session with me!

1) Do you share my images?

My number one priority is making sure our clients are comfortable, especially with boudoir. It can be a life-changing experience which also means it can be kind of nerve wracking! Sometimes you are learning to love your body and aren’t quite ready to share your images with the world, or sometimes these images are meant specifically for your spouse and aren’t for anyone else’s eyes. It all depends on your personal preferences and I always get permission first, before I share any images.

2) Do I have to wear lingerie?

You definitely don’t have to specifically wear lingerie- there are a bunch of outfit ideas besides lacy little things. Bring your spouse’s button down, or a favorite white tee, or bring a sheet for implied nude… there are so many options other than lingerie!

3) Do you have payment plans?

There are a few payment options! To book your session, you’ll first take care of the reservation, but from there, we’ll set up a payment schedule before your session so you can pay your purchase off in chunks, rather than paying a lump sum! We do also accept credit cards, and PayPal credit as options for stretching out your payments.

4) Are hair and makeup included?

Hair and makeup is included in almost all of our boudoir sessions, and if it isn’t, you’ll be well aware of it! It’s rare for our clients not to visit the salon first because we feel it’s so important for you to be pampered and not have to stress about putting your own look together. Our amazing team will help you complete your look, whether that’s “I woke up like this” or full on glam! You can bring any ideas you have for your look and our artists will use them for inspiration.

5) Do you photoshop my images?

Yes, your final images will be fully retouched for color balance, skin touch-ups, teeth whitening, and any other retouching we feel is needed. We want you to look and feel your absolute best. The thing we love most, though, is our images look amazing right out of the camera. Our clients tend to fall in love with their images right in the back of the camera before we’ve even done a single thing to them! That’s because we are picky about lighting and posing you properly and in the most flattering ways.

One thing we do draw the line at, however, is body modification. We will not reshape you into looking like you have a whole different body. Part of the process of accepting yourself and seeing your beauty is by NOT changing you to look like someone other than yourself. It is extremely damaging to have a boudoir session done then change your images to look not like you. Like I said above, we are skilled in lighting and posing and you’ll already find yourself unrecognizable when you see your images without any extra “work” done on you- we promise!

6) Where should I buy my outfits?

There are some really great places to purchase outfits from, it all just depends on your style and what you’re hoping to get! Here are some of our favorites where you can find great quality and a variety of sizes: Hips & Curves, Torrid, Victoria’s Secret, Thistle & Spire, Honey Birdette, Adore Me, Savage X Fenty, Lane Bryant, Journelle, Lovehoney, Bare Necessities, Nordstrom, Yandy. If you’re looking for something specific that you can’t find, let me know and I’ll help you!

7) What type of print products do you have?

We offer a variety of albums and luxury boxes with portraits in them! We also offer a great selection of wall portrait styles for you to spice up your walls with! My personal favorite are our gorgeous luxury albums and metal wall portraits. For your album, pick your own leather, velvet, or linen (and many more!) album cover or, upgrade to an ICE cover and knock your own socks off! The pages are thick, and oh-so vibrant! You won’t be able to stop staring at them! Even if you think you’re purchasing it for a special someone, we know you’ll end up loving it more than they do! And our metal wall art? OOOOH, girl, ya just gotta see ’em!

8) Do you offer digitals?

Yes! Most of our albums and all of our luxury boxes come with digitals. You can also add them onto your wall art a la carte if you like! We like to lump a lot of our products together like albums and wall art or albums and credit or albums and digitals and call them collections!

9) I’m freaking out! How can I calm my nerves?

Nerves are part of the experience! I always say it would probably be weird if you weren’t nervous. The nervousness you feel in the beginning of your session will make your “WOW” moment seeing your images for the first time even more special because 1) you’ll feel like a boss for not copping out, and 2) you’ll be astonished at how gorgeous you really are!

10) How many outfits should I bring?

This all depends on which collection you choose! With the Bronze you’ll wear two, with the Diamond you’ll wear four, and with the Secret you’ll wear unlimited outfits. There are options for everything in between as well! I always say to bring more than you think you’ll wear and I’ll help you pick!

11) Should I get to my session early?

Nope! We know exactly what time you’ll be done with hair and makeup and will plan on you coming straight here from there! All we ask is that you not make any pit stops for any reason as being even 10-15 minutes late will impact the length of your session.

12) Where is your studio located?

We’re located right on the edge of south Lansing where it meets up with Holt. Like, we’re so close, a lot of locals familiar with the area think we’re actually in Holt! However, so many people come to us from far away that people also have a tendency to think we’re not even in the Lansing area. LOL. We’ve been here for 14 years and don’t plan on leaving any time soon! We can’t wait to welcome you!
