The last thing any parent wants to hear is that their baby is sick with a life-threatening illness. We’ve had the joy of watching Miss Layla grow up but have also witnessed all that her family has been through, and to say it’s been a rough road would be an understatement. Please take this time to learn a little about Layla, and consider the opportunity to do something beautiful for your own family by way of helping Layla’s with the resources they need to continue the medical care she so desperately needs.
On Saturday, April 14, 2018, we spent the evening supporting one of our close friends, Jen, and her beautiful, 12 year old daughter, Layla. Layla was diagnosed with an extremely rare condition called Dyskeratosis Congenita at only five years of age. Since then, her family has been painstakingly searching for a bone marrow match. Layla has spent countless hours in the hospital having tests run, being poked, and getting platelet infusions. She recently was deemed “infusion dependent” which basically means she now needs weekly platelet infusions until a bone marrow match is found. Guilty Girlz Riding Club of Michigan hosted Saturday’s fundraiser for Layla. There was a taco bar, desserts galore, two Chinese auctions, a silent auction, and a live auction. There was also the opportunity for all attendees to join the bone marrow registry. Seeing so many people from all over come to show their support was truly wonderful! 30-something people were swabbed to see if they could be Layla’s match! Diamondback MC was jam-packed with people who came to show love and support for this little girl and her family!
We believe in family and we believe in capturing bonds and forever memories. I can’t think of a better way to express our beliefs than to donate gift certificates for the cause. 100% of the profit for purchased certificates goes to Layla’s medical expenses while those who purchased receive a beautiful session and portraits.
Having said that, we joyfully contributed to the live auction at Layla’s event, but wanted to keep the doors open for others who perhaps could not attend, or would like an additional opportunity.
